Accomplishments
- Assisting the staff and leadership at Laguna Honda Hospital with culture change and organizational effectiveness to improve resident-centered care and increase staff communication and satisfaction while preparing to move into their new, state-of-the art facility.
- Provided leadership and facilitation of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement 5 Million Lives Campaign in California. Coordinated approximately 30 town hall events throughout the state focusing on topics such as prevention of pressure ulcers, reduction of MRSA, evidenced-based care for congestive heart failure, preventing adverse drug events and central line infections. Over 200 California hospitals recruited to the campaign.
- Managed a three-year long Hospital Quality Improvement Project for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, providing California hospitals with technical assistance on topics such as surgical site infection prevention, quality reporting, and special focus on rural and critical access hospitals culture of safety. Over 50 hospitals were recruited for the surgical site infection project, to join an 18-month IHI-based collaborative, realizing more than 40% improvement by project’s end.
