Our Patient Safety History
The staff of Lumetra PSO has a long track record in advocating and practicing patient safety initiatives to effect sustainable change.
We have worked collaboratively with the The Joint Commission, the National Quality Forum (NQF), and with hundreds of hospitals and nursing homes to effect lasting quality and safety improvements for consumers.
We have participated in the following programs:
- Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP) to reduce surgical infections
- Studies regarding medication safety in chronic conditions: Potentially Inappropriate Medications, Drug-to-Drugs Interactions, and Combined “Double Jeopardy” DDI-PIM risk exposure
- The Strategic Alliance for Error Reduction (SAFER) California Healthcare Coalition, which was funded by the California Healthcare Foundation (CHCF) to move California’s patient safety agenda forward and chaired by LHS
- The Patient Safety Survey of California Rural and Critical Access Hospitals, which our staff conducted on behalf of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The survey assessed 24 rural and critical access facilities for the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture and was sponsored by AHRQd
